Heritage Harbour Sets a New Record!
Many hands came together for the Heritage Harbour Civic Association’s 10th Annual Food Drive on June 21st to blow away all their previous years records of food collected and funds raised! In just one day, the crew of 100 volunteers went to 1,800 units in Heritage Harbour to collect 6,182 pounds of food and receive almost $15,000 in checks for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.
The EVEN BETTER news is that all donations were matched dollar for dollar by Crosby Marketing during their Matching Challenge Campaign!
The support from Heritage Harbour and Crosby Marketing comes at a time when the need for people seeking food and basic necessities in Anne Arundel County has grown as much as 482% during the pandemic; 53% of whom had never been to a food pantry before.
For Deedee Mahaffay, the coordinator of the Heritage Harbour food drive, she has seen her community pull together and donate year after year. However, this year exceeded all of her expectations with her neighbors stepping up to get their donations matched.
“It’s the 10th year we’ve held the spring food drive and it’s the most volunteers we have ever had,” said Deedee as she described her community’s Food Drive. “We’re so excited to help in such a big way.”
