Kick Off Event: Hunger Amidst Plenty

We are kicking off the month with an informative Zoom talk by Dr. Pam Brown who leads the Poverty Amidst Plenty community needs assessment, a report that provides an overview of the issues in Anne Arundel County that impact the economy and quality of life. Dr. Brown will speak about access to healthy food, food insecurity, and hunger amongst children, adults, and seniors.

About this event

Throughout the month of September, we are celebrating Hunger Action Month and raising awareness about food insecurity throughout Anne Arundel County. We are kicking off the month with an informative talk by Dr. Pam Brown who leads up the Poverty Amidst Plenty community needs assessment that provides an overview of the issues in Anne Arundel County that impact the economy and quality of life. Dr. Brown will speak specifically to access to healthy food, food insecurity, and hunger amongst children, adults, and seniors.

Anne Arundel County Food Bank representatives will end the talk with a brief description of food programs and highlight specific Hunger Action Month activities.

About our Featured Speaker

Dr. Pam Brown is currently the Executive Director of the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth and Families. She completed her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Florida Atlantic University. Her dissertation focused on the importance of community partnerships in diverse neighborhoods. She is a Dissertation Chair for the University of Phoenix specializing in qualitative case study methods. She is certified to conduct ethical research through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative at the University of Miami. She has been conducting community needs assessments for over 20 years.
