VOLUNTEER, DONATE, HOST, AND SUPPORT

Each September, food banks and other organizations working to alleviate food insecurity bring awareness to hunger in our communities and encourage people to take action.

Hunger Action Month Anne Arundel County Food Bank

For 2023, the Anne Arundel County Food Bank developed a calendar featuring steps, big and small, to help our neighbors and ease food insecurity in our county. We also partnered with the United Way of Central Maryland to present the 30|30 Experience: an online, interactive session that revealed why so many hardworking people have difficulty making ends meet.

Other ways to take action each September include:

  • Volunteering: Organize a group to help AACFB on the sorting line or volunteer as part of our delivery/pick-up crew.
  • Donating: Monthly support helps us plan ahead and make sure we meet the food needs in our county.
  • Hosting a food drive: Bring together your community or business by collecting non-perishable food items for your neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Donating food and funds at our supporting businesses: Throughout September, our friends at Himmel’s Garden Center in Pasadena and Homestead Gardens (Davidsonville and Severna Park) collect non-perishable food items and have set up donations to AACFB at their registers.
