Volunteer Opportunities
Drivers & Driver Helpers
The Anne Arundel County Food Bank needs 1-2 volunteer drivers for Tuesday and/or Wednesday mornings from 8 am until approximately noon. Volunteer drivers will use our box truck to pick up donations at various locations in Anne Arundel County. Drivers do not have to have a CDL but must be able to pass a DOT physical and be able to lift 50-pound (or more) boxes. Drivers must have experience driving a box truck, including backing into docks, using a liftgate, and using a manual pallet jack to load and unload the truck. Drivers must have a clear driving record. Drivers must also have strong customer service skills to represent AACFB at the stores and locations of our donors.
For more information, please contact the food bank’s HR and Logistics Manager Marta Jones at marta@aafoodbank.org.
Sort Food Donations: Group Volunteers
Groups of up to 15 people from any organization, business, social club, or family and friends are welcome to take advantage of team building while helping those in need in Anne Arundel County. We need group volunteers to sort canned food and produce/perishable foods for distribution to pantries and on-site feeding agencies. Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts (10 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm) are available Monday through Friday.
Sort Food Donations: Individual Volunteers
Individuals are welcome to come in and join other volunteers on our sorting line to sort canned food and produce/perishable foods for distribution to pantries and on-site feeding agencies. Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts (10 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm) are available Monday through Friday.
Age 16 to 17 can volunteer without a parent or guardian IF they have a minor waiver signed by their parent/guardian and will work alongside our regular volunteers on the sorting line.
Children age 8-15 are also permitted to volunteer but must be accompanied by one adult chaperone (over 21) the entire time of their volunteer shift. All must be up to date vaccinated and minors must have the waiver signed by parent/guardian.
