Hunger Action Month

About Hunger Action Month

With September and Hunger Action Month behind us, we wanted to thank you for your support and partnership. Thanks to you and hundreds of our community members, we came together to raise awareness about food insecurity in our community and encourage others to get involved in fighting hunger.

Because of you, we were able to meet the 1,000 action challenge. The Jessica & Bruce Morgenstern Local Impact Fund donated $5 for every action that our community members took. We also had community partners raise funds for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank on our behalf including Homestead Gardens, Ignite Annapolis, Himmel’s Landscape and Garden Center, and Bike AAA’s Lifeline 100. Our final event of the month, Cruising Out Hunger, presented by Watermark, was a picture-perfect sunset cruise to celebrate all the actions our community took during Hunger Action Month and to raise money to support our work in the community. Altogether, these actions raised over $15,000 for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank!

Do you want to take action and help us fight food insecurity in our community, this Hunger Action Month and beyond? Here are four great ways to get involved!

  • Volunteer: Join us on the sorting line or become a member of our volunteer delivery and pick-up crew.
  • Become a monthly donor: Your monthly support can help us plan ahead and make sure we meet the food needs in our county.
  • Host a food drive: A perfect way to bring together your community or business by collecting non-perishable food items for your neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Join us for an event: Help us raise money for our programs while also learning more about the AA Co Food Bank! Save the dates for our Impact Report presentation on October 27th at Noon and our Feeding Hope event on May 18th, 2023!

Hunger Action Month 2021

#HungerActionMonth has ended, but food insecurity remains a reality for far too many of our neighbors throughout Anne Arundel County. Thank you to all people who took action this month to help fight hunger and ensure everyone in our County has enough to eat.
