About Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month. We’re asking everyone in Anne Arundel County to take action against hunger in their community throughout the month. Use our handy calendar for steps, big and small, to help our neighbors and ease food insecurity in our county. Every action makes a real difference.

Do you want to take action and help us fight food insecurity in our community, this Hunger Action Month and beyond? Here are four great ways to get involved!

  • Volunteer: Join us on the sorting line or become a member of our volunteer delivery and pick-up crew.
  • Become a monthly donor: Your monthly support can help us plan ahead and make sure we meet the food needs in our county.
  • Host a food drive: A perfect way to bring together your community or business by collecting non-perishable food items for your neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
  • Donate food and funds at our supporting businesses: Throughout September, our friends at Himmel’s Garden Center in Pasadena and Homestead Gardens (Davidsonville and Severna Park) are collecting non-perishable food items and have set up donations at their registers

Join us for the 30|30 Experience

The Anne Arundel County Food Bank has partnered with the United Way of Central Maryland to offer our friends and stakeholders an online, interactive session that reveals why so many hardworking people have difficulty making ends meet.

Whether the 30|30 Experience opens your eyes to the struggles others face or affirms your lived experience, you’ll leave the session better equipped to share with others the challenges and choices many people face every day.

  • DATE: Thursday, September 28, 2023
