The AACFB Congratulates COO Susan Thomas

It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that our Chief Operating Officer, Susan Thomas, will be moving on to an exciting opportunity as the new Management Aide in the Office of Central Services of the Anne Arundel County Government. Her last day will be today, February 28, 2023. Susan has been with the Anne Arundel County Food Bank for over sixteen years, and no one knows this organization’s history and evolution better than she does (check out this video of pictures, remembering all the ways that Susan has made an impact on AACFB over the years!).

Over the years, Susan has worn many hats, growing from her first position as Administrative Assistant all the way to an essential member of the AACFB Leadership Team. Her in-depth knowledge of our programs, our resources, and the community that we serve has been invaluable. The relationships that she has forged throughout her tenure at the Food Bank have created countless opportunities for partnerships, resource development, and expanded services to our neighbors in need. Susan knows every inch of our 32,000 square foot warehouse and has even braved the basement to troubleshoot and oversee repair of all manner of facility break downs. There has not been a challenge big or small that Susan hasn’t taken on with passion, skill, and a smile on her face. Her greatest legacy here will certainly be her unwavering leadership throughout the height of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. She worked tirelessly to keep our operations going and to meet the unprecedented need for supplemental food in our community. Susan will be greatly missed, but her contributions to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank will carry on for years to come.

In her new role with Central Services, Susan will take on a variety of responsibilities including analyzing data and maintaining and providing key statistical information in support of a variety of the activities of the office. Susan will bring her excellent eye for detail and her keen analytical skills to bear on these responsibilities. Our loss is most certainly the gain of Central Services and the Anne Arundel County Government. We are thrilled, however, to know that as a member of this team, Susan will be well positioned to engage collaboratively with the Food Bank and to continue her support of our mission, just now from this new vantage point. We congratulate Susan and wish her great success in her new venture!

Best wishes to Susan!
